ESWC 2008 UAE National Finals - winners and summary

The national finals for the UAE in the Electronic Sports World Cup have now been played out and the winners and qualifying players and teams are known. Over the 25th, 26th and 27th of May at the International CES Hometech exhibition staged at the World Trade Centre in Dubai players turned out in their droves from around the region and came to compete in the first major event of it's kind for some time. Sponsored by HP and XBOX360 the event was a great success as the players and teams battled it out for the chance to represent the UAE at the Electronic Sports World Cup in California in August of this year and for one of the superb (and very powerful) quad core HP pc's on offer to the winning players in each event. The four disciplines were well contested and provided a great deal of excitement for the Counter-Strike 1.6, Warcraft III : The Frozen Throne, Quake III and Trackmania Nations Forever players in attendance and to the gathered crowds spectating this event.
The winners of the events :

Each of the winning players have become the proud owners of a HP M9000 gaming Pc worth dhs6,000 each from event sponsors HP who are also sponsoring the UAE tournament winners with flights and accommodation to the  Electronic Sports World Cup Grand Finals to be held in San Jose, California  in August.

Mr Jaffer Mir, managing director of Game Frontier and the force behind the Game Zone area, said, “We were delighted with the turnout and numbers of registered players who took part in the tournament.  The final places were fiercely contested and provided great entertainment and tension for the spectators”.

XBOX COMPETITIONS AT THE EVENT

Event sponsor XBOX360 will be hosting competitions over the course of the event in various games in the XBOX360 console zone. Prizes include special edition "Mongoose" XBOX360 consoles and the events will feature Dead or Alive 4, Pro Evolution Soccer 08, Guitar Hero, Forza 2, Gears of War, Halo3 and the brand new Ninja Gaiden.

We will be accepting registration for the events on the first day (Sunday) and will start the events on the Sunday afternoon and carry them right through the event to Tuesday so make sure you enquire about any room in the competitions for extra players - if there is room we will get you involved. Just ask when you come to registration and we will enter you into these great events!

ESWC UAE 2008 FINALS ANNOUNCED

The ESWC is the event that stands out in the competitive gaming calendar and this year will be no exception as the greatest players from around the world converge on San Jose, California for the ESWC Grand Finals.

The ESWC Organizing Committee has decided to remove three restrictions regarding the client settings. The following commands are now not enforced with a default value anymore: cg_xerclients, cg_laghax, cg_nudge (except in LAN for this last one).
